XKCD

Nobody I’ve talked to has any idea what this name means, but many recognize it. XKCD is a joke-a-day comic about math, programming, and the occasional love story. The level of art is fairly low (not much about stick figures at time), but the dialogue is funny enough to make many over-look this fact.

One thing this comic does very well is the fact that it doesn’t take itself very seriously. The mix of jokes from various areas aren’t too heavy, and some of them can still be understood, even from a layman’s perspective.

One word of warning for readers however: There is no seriousness in this comic. If you’re looking for deep thought and foreshadowing, go somewhere else.

    Ah, xkcd…

    How we love you.

By turns geeky, eclectic, romantic, insightful, twisted. The simple art belies the sophistication of the humour and the “last laugh” contained in the hover tooltip for each comic is a wonderful way to make sure you take in the whole thing before the conclusion is delivered

Oh, and while I’m at it, the xkcd logarithmically scaled map of the entire universe was nothing short of inspired…

When I was out an about on the internet I saw something interesting which you just reminded me off. Someone took a copy of the universe map and inserted Longcat into it (if you don’t know who Longcat is, be happy). I’m not sure if it was a travesty or if it made it that much funnier.
