Punch an’ Pie

This comic  is a sequel to Queen of Wands and you can check out that review here.

This comic centers around Angela (same Angela from QoW) after the Queen of Wands comic ended. Angela is a short zany girl who works at a toy store. She seems relatively normal at first, but she hides a deep, slightly insane, side of herself. The escapades of this comic are around the same level as Queen of Wands, but there is less of the text-wall, massive emotional story-arc that made Queen of Wands what it is/was. The comic still centers around a main plot-line (Angela and her girlfriend Heather most of the time) either together or seperately.

This comic is very funny, but a fair number of the jokes are at least semi-adult in nature. If you are a prudist/conservative person, you probably won’t want to read much of this comic, and you’ll most defiantly want to stay away from the advertisements.

There are only two thing I don’t really like about this comic: The color, and one of the characters (Karen). First off, there is no color, its all black outline with the occasional shading. After the beautiful coloring on QoW, it was a bit of a let down. Karen. Ah, Karen. Karen is so ditsy, it goes past annoying. Fortunetly, she is only around for every few strips, and you can kinda forget about how bad she is, until she pops up again. Aerie (the author) even had a perfect way to take her out of the comic, did so, then brought her back.

Overall: (4 1/2 stars)
