Least I Could Do
A comic about a player and his friends.
In this comic the main character is Rayne, and he is a player. The first comic is about his tally of women he has scored with (50 at that point). He settles down a bit later in the comic, but he is still a player near the end. He has a pretty standard group of characters behind him at the beginning (the guy who can’t get a girlfriend, the guy who has long-term relationships that always go sour, and the only girl who won’t sleep with Rayne), but fortunetly the cliche of the characters goes away somewhat latter on.
One of the great things about this comic is the way it balances joke-a-day strips with sizable storylines. The art has improved quite a bit since the comic started, and new characters have been introduced (including Rayne’s niece) who give the comic a balance and freshness that it lacked in the beginning. There is even the occasional strip in which Rayne waxes philosophical and the reader gets to see that he actually has some depth.
The big problem I have with the comic is its reliance on the old jokes about Rayne being a player. It was funny for the first year or so of comics, but it starts to become old hat after a while. Some of the jokes are a bit predictable, but overall those times aren’t overly common.
