Gutters
The comics industry gets no respect, at least not from Ryan Sohmer.
Gutters is a joke-a-day comic written by Ryan Sohmer, a writer who I have already given a fair amount of praise to for Least I Could DO and Looking for Group. This comic however is not illustrated by Lars like the other two. Instead, Ryan gets a different comic/webcomic artist(s) each week to do the strips which he writes. Its not a half bad system and can be pretty interesting if you like differing styles.
All of the artists Ryan have worked with on this project are great, the art is wonderful and the storylines are funny even to someone not well versed in the print comic world.
Unfortunetly, as one who has only openned a few dozen comic books in his time, I can tell I’m missing something. I can tell that the jokes would be a lot funnier if I knew some bit of knowledge that I don’t have. I can see this driving some people away, despite the jokes being funny in general.
Overall, its a good comic and a good execution of an idea that could have gone horribly wrong
