One of the big players on the FreeMMO scene is IGG, a fairly well known and humongous website worth of games. Somewhat less know is the fact that they are pretty well hated. I recently played one of their games called Freesky Online, and I wish I had those days of my life back.
With extremely long build times, horribly long transportation time, and even worse customer support, Freesky is just bad. At first it seems like a regular empire-builder with better than normal graphics. Then you hear about the insane 19 days for a single upgrade, the hour it takes to move a plane from one city to a neighboring city, and days it takes to move from one side of the map to the other (which is only a few hundred players wide), and the bad English. In addition to this, you can only occupy an enemy city, instead of capturing like many other empire-builders, and skills get exponentially higher as you go on.
As a mentioned before, the graphics are quite good in this game. Also, you get to see the combats, which can make for great viewing if you’re bored.

Overall, this game is barely worth playing, even for ‘core players
