Darwin Carmichael is going to Hell
But he is having a wonderful time on the way.
I have to say, this comic pulls of quirky humor very well. The main character Darwin has been damned for all eternity because he allowed the Buddha (when the Buddha was a baby) to fall out of his high chair and become mentally retarded. This however doesn’t stop his friends from trying to save him. Three stoned angels spend most of their time crashed on his couch, he has a pet manticore, and his landlord is a satyr. Quite a life huh?
As I said, the comic is full of hilarious and quirky humor. Despite being hundreds of years old, the manticore still acts like a cross between a five year old and a cat. Also, despite what you may think from the title, there isn’t a whole lot of hellfire and damnation going around. Even when there is, it is more funny than scary.
There are, however, times when the whole damned thing seems to be more of an elephant in the room than anything else. A few major story arcs do talk about the incident and try to resolve Darwin’s guilt over it, but it never seems to go anywhere. The one main thing I would love to see in this comic is more character development.
Overall, a good comic if you like quirky humor.
