A Texas hold’em champion with an ego the size of his bank account.
Even though this comic is still fairly new, I think I’ve been able to get a fairly decent read on the way the comic is going. In this comic, the main character (Ace Hoyle) is a Texas hold-em’ champion who has won dozens of tournaments and has earned millions of dollars. So far the comic has only shown one of these tournaments (that years World Poker Championship), but you get the sense early on that this is no new occurrence. Some of the strips also follow the actions of Dolly Finegold, though the relationship between her and Ace hasn’t been clearly defined as of yet.
One of the great things about this comic is the old noir-style movie aura the whole comic has. Most of the comic is in black and white which makes the occasional splash of color (such as Dolly’s blue dress) stand out even more. Also, the comic doesn’t force the poker aspect of the comic down the throat of the readers.
Unfortunetly, the small archives means that it will only take a little while to get up to current. This combined with only one update per week can make the story seem to drag along. Other than this, there really isn’t much to complain about unless you completely dislike poker.
